In celebration of America’s 250th anniversary, the Rogers Historical Museum presents the upcoming Hawkins House themed guided tour “A Patriotic Christmas”. The exhibit will be on show November 14, 2026 through January 2, 2027.

Americans have been known to show their patriotism in many different ways from the nation’s beginning in 1776. During the Victorian period, patriotic tributes were sometimes incorporated into holiday displays, especially around times of war. This special guided tour through the historic 1895 Hawkins House uses objects from the museum collection to explore some of these displays of patriotism during the Christmas season from the American Civil War through World War I.

The museum’s Hawkins House, a middle-class Victorian brick house, was built on the corner of Second and Cherry Streets in Rogers, Arkansas in 1895. Over a period of 79 years, three generations of the Hawkins family lived in the house. In 1980, the house was acquired by the City of Rogers and in 1982 became home to the Rogers Historical Museum. The house was restored in 1995 to reflect its original architectural design and furnished with circa 1900 period items from the museum’s collection.

Hawkins House tours are provided upon request, Tuesday-Saturday, 10:00 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. Museum visitors may inquire about the Hawkins House guided tour at the Hailey Building visitor information desk or at the Key Wing Education Center entrance.

26TH ANNUAL HOLIDAY OPEN HOUSE: Families are also invited to the museum’s Holiday Open House on December 12, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Kids of all ages will have the chance to take a guided tour of the historic Hawkins House decorated for “A Patriotic Christmas”, make fun crafts, write and mail a letter to Santa, enjoy cookies and hot cocoa, and of course, visit with jolly old St. Nick himself.
