The sixth annual exhibition, Our Art, Our Region, Our Time, opens tonight in Walton Arts Center’s Alexander Gallery at the Porter Art Warehouse and is on display through Sunday, Dec. 20.
Curated by Kathy P. Thompson, the free exhibition showcases 102 pieces by 86 artists representing 22 cities and the communities that make up their region.
This regional exhibit continues to grow in popularity among local artists and art lovers. This year, 371 artists submitted 659 pieces of art; both record responses to the annual call for submissions. Walton Arts Center’s visual arts committee reviews each piece with the goal of curating an exhibition that showcases the wide range of artists who are creating in Northwest Arkansas. Malcolm and Ellen Hayward are exhibition underwriters.
New this year, Walton Arts Center is partnering with Odeon Collective for vinyl nights at the gallery 6-8 pm on the first Thursday of the month: Oct. 1, Nov. 5 and Dec. 3. Come discover a new record, a new perspective, a new way to experience the Alexander Gallery. Bring your own vinyl and be entered to win two tickets to an upcoming show at Walton Arts Center.
Exhibitions at Alexander Gallery, 212 N. West Avenue, are free and open to the public Monday through Saturday 11 am-2 pm and Thursday through Saturday 5-8 pm.
