Rogers first responders are teaming up with Community Blood Center of the Ozarks (CBCO) for the seventh annual City of Rogers Boots, Badges and Bandages Community Challenge Blood Drive, taking place on Thursday, July 9.

Donors will receive a limited-edition Boots, Badges and Bandages T-shirt and have a chance to enter to win a $10,000 dream vacation giveaway.

The blood drive will be held Thursday, July 9, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Rogers Activity Center, 315 W. Olive St., Rogers.  Free lunch for donors by the Fraternal Order of Police.

The annual challenge brings the community together to support local patients while honoring the police officers and firefighters who serve Rogers every day. Participants can donate on behalf of Team Police or Team Fire as departments compete for bragging rights and a traveling trophy awarded to the department with the strongest showing.

“The Rogers Police Department is proud to partner with Community Blood Center of the Ozarks for another year of the Boots, Badges and Bandages Blood Drive,” said Don Lisi, Public Information Officer for the Rogers Police Department. “Summer is traditionally a challenging time for maintaining an adequate blood supply, making events like this especially important. Whether donors support Team Police, Team Fire or simply answer the call to help others, each donation can make a meaningful impact.”

“The Rogers Fire Department is proud with the Rogers Police Department and Community Blood Center of the Ozarks for this important event. Every blood donation has the power to save lives right here in our community. We encourage everyone who is eligible to join us in donating,” said Assistant Fire Chief Bryan Hinds.

“Community support is essential during the summer months when maintaining the blood supply can be especially challenging,” said Greg Womack, CBCO Blood Drive Consultant. “As the sole provider of blood to northwest Arkansas hospitals, CBCO relies on local donors to help ensure lifesaving blood is available when patients need it.”

Photo identification is required. Donors must be at least 16 years old, weigh at least 110 pounds, be in good health and not have donated blood within the previous 56 days. Donors are encouraged to eat well and drink plenty of fluids before donating.

Appointments are strongly encouraged. To schedule an appointment, call 417-227-5006 or visit www.cbco.org/bootsandbadges.

On behalf of local hospital patients, CBCO thanks blood donors from across the region for giving life to your community.
