Rogers Historical Museum - What are Victorian Plants?

Published Thursday, May 21, 2026 10:00 am

Those with a love of gardens, history, or simply a curiosity about the past are invited to explore the rich stories behind Victorian-era plantings at What are Victorian Plants? on Saturday, June 13, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Key Wing Education Center in Rogers, AR.

This engaging program offers a closer look at what defines a true Victorian plant—from treasured heirlooms to resilient native varieties—and how these plants found their way into everyday gardens. Attendees will hear fascinating accounts of adventurous plant hunters, the tradition of sharing “passalong” cuttings, and the enduring appeal of time-tested favorites.

The program also connects past to present by highlighting the living history found in Vera’s Victorian Garden, located just outside the museum, and offering practical guidance on modern, improved varieties that capture the spirit of the Victorian era. Participants will leave with inspiration and ideas for incorporating these classic plants into their own gardens.

Presented by the Benton County Master Gardeners. This program is free and open to the public. No registration required.
