DreamMaker Bath & Kitchen of Northwest Arkansas earned first place in Showplace Cabinetry’s New Product Design Contest for its Cave Springs Scandinavian Modern Remodel, a full main-floor renovation in Northwest Arkansas.
Designed by owner Mary Baxter, who has more than 20 years of experience, the project transformed a traditionally styled French home into a more modern, functional space tailored to the family’s needs.
“We listened closely to what the clients needed and focused on improving function while keeping the space aesthetically beautiful,” said Baxter. “The home had a very traditional French style, but the clients wanted a more modern feel. We blended traditional and modern elements and made significant updates.”
The renovation extended beyond the kitchen. The team completed a full main-floor remodel, including new flooring throughout, updated bedroom beams and painting, a redesigned laundry room, and the addition of a custom dog wash station and pool bath.
The kitchen features larger drawers and concealed cabinetry to keep small appliances, a coffee machine, and a microwave out of sight.
A custom walnut pull-out table built into the island slides out from beneath the quartz countertop to provide additional workspace or seating and tucks away when not in use.
Additional features include a custom hood built from ¾-inch walnut wood strips with black crown detailing, a matching walnut hutch, and two hidden coffee bars with roll-back doors.
The team installed a porcelain slab fireplace with modern metal doors and added two large frosted glass metal doors to complement the updated design.
“I get excited when I know what the client wants and I have to marry two designs to please both the wife and husband,” Baxter said.
