Kimberly Akimbo, the winner of five Tony Awards® including best musical, score and book and the most critically acclaimed musical of the 2023 is heading to Walton Arts Center Dec. 9-14 for just eight shows. Don’t miss your chance to meet Kimberly and be inspired by a show Variety called, “Exceedingly rare and impossible not to love.”

Kimberly is about to turn 16 and recently moved with her family to a new town in suburban New Jersey. With the change, Kim is forced to navigate family dysfunction, a rare genetic condition, her first crush … and possible felony charges. Ever the optimist, she is determined to find happiness against all odds and embark on a great adventure. The Los Angeles Times’ Charles McNulty called it, “Exquisitely life-affirming, Kimberly Akimbo is first rate all around!”

The cast is led by Ann Morrison as Kimberly, best known for originating the role of Mary Flynn in the legendary Stephen Sondheim/George Furth musical Merrily We Roll Along on Broadway—a performance that earned her a Theatre World Award. Her Broadway credits also include Hal Prince’s LoveMusik and Children and Art. Off-Broadway, she received a Drama Desk nomination for her performance as Lizzie in the original Goblin Market.

This new musical about growing up and growing old (in no particular order) features Tony Award-winning book and lyrics by David Lindsay-Abaire (Shrek), a Tony Award-winning score by Jeanine Tesori (Fun Home), choreography by Danny Mefford (Dear Evan Hansen) and direction by Tony-nominated director Jessica Stone (Water for Elephants).
