Originally from Afghanistan, Nilla and her family immigrated to the United States during the war, leaving behind their successful business and the life they once knew. Arriving in Northwest Arkansas with little more than the shirts on their backs, they were determined to rebuild and contribute to the community that opened its arms to them.
Through the support of local organizations such as Canopy NWA and Kiva NWA, along with the generosity of sponsors and community partners, the family’s dream of business ownership became a reality. Today, they are proud to carry forward the legacy of European Gourmet, a beloved specialty grocery store in Rogers that offers a wide selection of international foods, European delicacies, and quality imported products.
European Gourmet provides the community with authentic flavors from across Europe—everything from specialty cheeses, breads, and sweets to hard-to-find ingredients that bring a taste of home to many Northwest Arkansas residents. Under the Oghlo family’s new ownership, the store continues to be a place where culture, flavor, and community come together.
Rather than moving to a larger city, the family chose to remain in Northwest Arkansas to give back to the very community that helped them rebuild. Their story is a powerful testament to hope, perseverance, and the impact of community partnerships.
The public is invited to join the Rogers Lowell Chamber in celebrating European Gourmet’s new ownership at their Ribbon Cutting Ceremony:
Tuesday, November 4, 2025 | 11:30 a.m.
European Gourmet and BEK Restaurant | 1149 W. Walnut Street, Rogers, AR 72758
Come show your support, meet Nilla and her family, and experience the rich flavors of European Gourmet — a local business built on resilience, gratitude, and community spirit.
