The businesses that make up the creative economy within historic downtown Rogers have played an active role in attracting the attention and the investment of entrepreneurs and businesses that are choosing to locate in Downtown Rogers. The businesses have also reached out to area artists who don’t have a brick and mortar space to invite them to exhibit their work and teach creative classes in their businesses.
Art on the Bricks Art Walk in July is showcasing artists and creatives who are “Piecing It Together” as we navigate through and emerge from a pandemic. What do we mean by “IT?” Artists are working to figure out how to go about life as we have experienced more than two years in a pandemic. Like all of us, artists and makers must re-envision and reconstruct how they work, create and sell their products to make ends meet and fulfill their individual need to be creative. These ARTrepreneurs are compelled to blend their artistic skills and business expertise and connecting with the community through events like Art on the Bricks in Downtown Rogers.
They are reviewing priorities while making choices. Artists and business owners are finding ways to break the inertia of the past and taking what we have learned and move forward. They are piecing together the bits of knowledge they have gained with their personal experience and bringing their art to Downtown Rogers.
Art on the Bricks Art Walk Galleries and Pop-Up Exhibitions
Thursday, June 9, 2022, 4:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.
Downtown Rogers serves as the true cultural center of the city, with flagship museums, craft breweries, artfully preserved historic buildings, retail art venues, and unique restaurants and bars hosting live music and a vibrant nightlife. A growing creative economy has organically gravitated to the Downtown district, contributing to an authentic creative culture. The public is invited to visit galleries and pop-up exhibits to view art and meet the artists. Twenty plus local businesses contribute to the evolving character of Rogers the second Thursday of every month showcasing original art, hosting live music, offering dance classes and exhibitions to highlight the talent of local, regional, and nationally recognized artists.
The monthly event highlights a spirit of entrepreneurship that flows through our historic downtown offering a vibrant and diverse community with participation by area schools, Arkansas Public Theatre, and businesses hosting live music, performing arts, classes and interactive experiences that offer entertainment and educational opportunities.
