The Rogers-Lowell Area Chamber of Commerce announced the winners of its prestigious community awards last night. Winners were recognized for their excellence in business and community at the 100th Annual Celebration Show.

Small Business of the Year

Winners of the 2021 Small Business of the Quarter were automatically nominated for this award and included:  Goldfish Swim School (First Quarter); Korpella Design (Second Quarter); Phat Tire Bike Shop (Third Quarter); and, GRO Catering (Fourth Quarter). From these nominees GRO Catering was awarded the Small Business of the Year. The business creates exceptional dining experiences for catering and is passionate about giving back to the community. One of its causes is Camp Corral, a national nonprofit organization, whose mission is to transform the lives of children for our country's wounded, ill, and fallen military heroes.

The Rogers-Lowell Spirit Award
Each year, the Chamber recognizes a Rogers-Lowell Area organization, business or other group for its significant contribution to the betterment of our community with the Rogers-Lowell Spirit Award. This is an award for those who have given above and beyond to the community. This year's Spirit Award was awarded to the Rotary Club of Rogers. Rotary founded the Rogers Chamber of Commerce in 1922 (it became the Rogers-Lowell Area Chamber in 2000). Angie Tucker-Ridley, Chairman of the Rogers-Lowell Area Chamber of Commerce, said, "Without Rotary's leadership, we literally would not be here today. We thank you Rotarians for your continued service to others in our community, your promotion of integrity, and your advancing understanding, goodwill and peace through your fellowship of business, professional and community leaders. And mostly, we thank you for envisioning what our organization could be and inspiring us to become it."

The Dick Trammel Good Neighbor Award (Rogers) and Elbert S. Graham / Elza Tucker Award (Lowell)
The Dick Trammel Good Neighbor Award - the Rogers community's highest honor - was first awarded in 1974. The award is presented each year to individuals who have contributed to the betterment of Rogers and and the region. The award was presented to Congressman Steve Womack. During his tenure as Mayor of Rogers, Congressman Womack focused on working with some of the great local entrepreneurs to create the westward expansion that has helped the community become a retail shopping destination in Northwest Arkansas.

The highest award for outstanding service to the community of Lowell is the Elbert S. Graham / Elza Tucker Award, named in their honor. It was also first awarded in 1974 and recognizes individuals for significant contribution to the betterment of the Lowell community. The award was presented to Melanie Houston, the Lowell Mayor's Assistant. Her dedication has been impressive with ongoing volunteer service to the city for over 15 years, enriching the lives of many.
