The Rogers-Lowell Area Chamber of Commerce and Springdale-based furniture store Sam’s Furniture presented teacher John Pool of Bonnie Grimes Elementary School with a $10,000 Home Makeover this morning on the school’s campus. Sam’s Furniture generously donates this award each year to a teacher in the Rogers School District who may have recently experienced hardship and is held in high regard by his or her peers in the teaching community.

The presentation served as the conclusion of the Chamber’s 6th Annual Thank-A-Teacher Celebration.

On August 10, Chamber staff, member businesses, and volunteers came together to celebrate teachers, administrators, and support staff at each of the public schools in the Rogers School District. Over 1,500 goodie bags stuffed with donated supplies were passed out, door prizes were awarded, and over $100,000 in donations and prizes were given to area educators.

“This is just a small portion of the recognition for those who work in education deserve. The Chamber would like to thank all who participated in celebrating and thanking our teachers,” said Ross Phillips, Chamber SVP of Community Development.

The Chamber’s Thank-A-Teacher Celebration impacts its key mission-work area of Economic Development as teachers educate future workforce for Chamber members and area businesses.

“Thanks to the dedication of our educators and their work training students to enter the workforce, the future is bright for our city and region as members of the business community have a talent pipeline of future workforce to ensure they stay successful for years to come,” said SVP of Economic Development Steve Cox.
