Startup Junkie launched their Global Entrepreneurship Week festivities on Monday with a Downtown Rogers Coffee Crawl, an event where local entrepreneurs connect with the business community and share their journeys over a cup of coffee.

Jon Allen, co-founder of Onyx Coffee Lab, shared the Onyx startup story with more than two dozen business professionals and aspiring entrepreneurs. The Downtown Rogers roastery headquarters provided an ideal venue for the gathering convened by Startup Junkie.

November is National Entrepreneurship Month, a time to celebrate the entrepreneurs who serve their communities and bolster the U.S. economy. This week we also recognize the American spirit of entrepreneurship by celebrating Global Entrepreneurship Week. Downtown Rogers is the perfect place to celebrate entrepreneurship. Our historic Downtown is largely made up of locally owned businesses, many of which were founded by the people who own and operate them today. 

The Downtown Rogers Merchant Meet-Up--a program of the Rogers Lowell Chamber--provides an opportunity for Downtown Rogers business owners, their team members, and other interested individuals, to convene, connect, and converse about relevant topics over coffee.

Join us for the November Art on the Bricks Art Walk as we bring Creative Innovation to Downtown Rogers. The monthly event takes place the 2nd Thursday of each month. We invite you to visit any of the participating locations from 4:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. Thursday, November 9 in locations throughout Downtown Rogers. This month, Art on the Bricks Art Walk is featuring Upcycled Art with Eloa Jane PereiraMelissa MiltonJBug ArtJim SawyerTom FlynnAaron Jones, Carrie Haase, and Amy Terry at Rogers Experimental House, 121 W Walnut Street, Rogers, AR. 

Keep America Beautiful celebrates America Recycles Day the week after the Art Walk, so we are getting a jump on it! November 15 is a holiday dedicated to spreading the word about the importance of recycling and making sure everyone knows what can and can not be recycled. 

  • America Recycles Day 2023 has chosen the theme, "Creative Innovation" to encourage people to think out of the box and find new ways to reduce, reuse and recycle. 
  • In line with the Creative Innovation theme, we are taking trash to treasure with upcycled art during the November Art on the Brick Art Walk.
  • See how area artists are focusing on making the world a better place to live in for all the generations to come.

Connecting DTR and Rogers New Technology HS Students

Stronger together: Fifteen (15) Rogers New Technology High School students connected last week with the Downtown Rogers business community to hear real-world stories from business professionals in the field of marketing. Students visited the Rogers Lowell Chamber staff at The Rogers Experimental House, marketing teams for: Honeycomb Kitchen ShopBrandEdMarketing Main Street and enjoyed lunch at The Rail-A Pizza Company and Iron Horse Coffee Company.

Rogers Christmas Parade Lights Up Downtown Rogers

Downtown Rogers preparing to light up the night as the community prepares for the annual Christmas Parade. The City of Rogers, along with partners The Rotary Club of Rogers, The Rotary Club of Downtown Rogers, and First National Bank NWA are excited for the annual holiday tradition. Applications for parade entries are being accepted through November 17. The parade will take place Friday, December 1st at 6:30pm in downtown Rogers.  

Ozark Beer Company to Transform Backyard into Community Gathering Space

Ozark Beer Company is collaborating with local artists to reimagine the downtown Rogers Brewery’s backyard as a family-friendly place for welcoming
the community and hosting public events. In addition to expanding seating space for patrons, the brewery aims to have the ability to host popular programming like festivals, artist fairs, and swap-meets without the threat of rainouts or the need to block off Arkansas St., and to make the integration of art a priority as development of the back yard takes shape.

The Parlour Room Opens in Downtown Rogers

A new community-centric retail concept focused on bringing connection + conversation is coming to Downtown Rogers. The Parlour Room, located at 103 W Walnut Street, is the brainchild of the founders of two locally owned businesses that have roots in Downtown Rogers. Courtney Ulrich Smith and Dominic Smith, co-owners of Underbrush Books, and Jesse Weegins, founder and owner of American Estates, have partnered to bring The Parlour Room, a community-centric retail experience, to Downtown Rogers.

Getting Creative: Downtown Rogers (DTR) is celebrating Artober during the month of October! All year long, numerous DTR businesses feature a range of artists, makers, and other talented creatives, providing interactive experiences for the community to enjoy. Every second Thursday Art on the Bricks Art Walk provides regional artists the opportunity to demonstrate or exhibit and sell their work in galleries and pop-up shops. From 4:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. October 12, more than a dozen Downtown Rogers business host guest artists or feature locally made products or offer other fun opportunities to enjoy the DTR creative economy.

Downtown Rogers is kicking off National Hispanic Heritage Month with enthusiasm. As the population in northwest Arkansas becomes more diverse, Art on the Bricks strives to represent all members of our community, along with their cultures and their art.

  • National Hispanic Heritage Month is September 15 – October 15 and it is significant in Rogers. Fifty-one percent of the population in Rogers is non-white or people of color, and the largest segment of this group is made up of people of Hispanic descent.
  • The September Art on the Bricks Art Walk provides an opportunity to connect with and learn about the culture, the art, the music and traditions of our Latino neighbors and friends.

Forty attendees gathered for a special session of the Downtown Rogers Merchant MeetUp to hear final details related to Rally Week. DTR merchants received event maps and “Welcome Biker” posters and tips to help prepare for Bikes Blues & BBQ which is set for September 20 – 23. Karen Wagaman, vice president for Rogers Lowell Chamber, welcomed the crowd and thanked TxAR House for hosting the group and Java Dudes Coffee Company for providing coffee.

Northwest Arkansas foodies will be excited to welcome a new, culturally authentic, Southeast Asian restaurant opening TODAY in The District - Downtown Rogers, 106 W. Elm Street, Suite 102. House 1830, is opening in the newly renovated building on the Southwest corner of S 1st Street and W Elm Street. This new eatery is bringing a throwback-to-tradition kind of dining experience to Northwest Arkansas. They offer dishes from Vietnam, Laos, and Thailand. Their featured items bring forward all of the amazing dishes that are found overseas and in SE Asian Homes in the U.S. but not often found on menus.

Art on the Bricks, a program of the Rogers Lowell Chamber, is assisting business owners, aspiring digital artists and families to discover how Artificial Intelligence (AI) is shaping the future. The community is invited to attend an informative overview of Artificial Intelligence and embark on a journey that redefines art and technology. 

Artist Dave Floyd is returning to Rogers Experimental House with free 45 minute demos once a month. Then, those who want to learn more may register for 2 hour art classes held most Wednesday evenings. This free AI intro session is designed to engage new users and share opportunities for additional paid classes. The initial offering of the AI Introduction is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. – 7:45 p.m. Wednesday August 30, at Rogers Experimental House, 121 W Walnut Street, Rogers, AR.

Register your team and compete in the 8th Annual Frisco Inferno Barbecue Competition, the official BBQ competition of Bikes, Blues & BBQ. Presented by the Rotary Club of Downtown Rogers, four person teams are invited to compete Friday, September 22 and Saturday, September 23. Each team will compete for The Judges’ Choice Awards which include trophies and cash prizes in two categories of smoked meat—pork and turkey.

Frisco Connects: New Mural Unites Elements of Downtown Rogers

A new mural in Downtown Rogers is being installed near the intersection of 2nd and Walnut streets later this month. The installation will complement the arts, culture and quality of life experiences in Downtown Rogers. Stevie Stevens, a mixed media glass artisan based in Bella Vista, was awarded a Third Space Grant by the Rogers Lowell Chamber to create a public art piece to expand the arts, culture and quality of life experiences that correspond with the Downtown Rogers creative community.

Rogers, AR— The soaring white walls on the second floor of Ozark Beer Company are surrounded with art by two artists, but one of the two never touches the canvas, paint or brushes used to create the art. A collaboration by two women who met 15 years ago, then lost touch, and reconnected through Facebook.

All the buzz: Ozark Beer Company (OBC) is celebrating their first honey harvest with a celebration and work session, 6:00 p.m. - 8 p.m. Thursday, July 6.  Honey and beer have a long history! Honey beer is a type of specialty beer made by brewing an ale or lager with some honey. We are know the folks at OBC are busy as bees, but, did it occur to you they might have their own hive? Ozark Beer Company installed a beehive with the expert assistance of Lauren Anderson, founder of Calm and Confidence Beekeeping in Little Rock. While OBC isn't yet producing product made by their resident bees, they hope to move in that direction in the future.

Music Moves is a music education nonprofit founded in Northwest Arkansas and committed to developing music programs and performances to share the extraordinary contributions of African Americans in all musical genres. Their mission is to provide opportunities to experience and appreciate the richness of Black music through educational programs for youth. African-American music is not just feel-good music produced through a multi-billion dollar industry – it is an original American art form and they are taking the next step opening The Music Depot, their first brick and mortar location in Downtown Rogers.

The Rotary Club of Downtown Rogers invites the community to celebrate Independence Day with the second annual “Run the Railyard” 5K walk/run, kicking off at 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday, July 4 from Railyard Bike Park.

Run the Railyard 5K provides a holiday walk/run on the paved trails surrounding beautiful Lake Atalanta Park. This event is dog/child/stroller friendly, so you are encouraged to bring the entire family. The 5k walk/run is designed to bring awareness to the Rotary missions, to raise funds for club projects including beautification efforts related to Downtown Rogers Parks, and to provide a family friendly Downtown Rogers experience.

The June 8th Art on the Bricks Art Walk celebrates the founding of our city and highlights artists who share a sense of community through their art. Rogers was officially founded on June 6, 1881, and we are celebrating Founders Day during the entire month of June. Rogers has been home to a variety of creative individuals who have given our city a rich and diverse cultural history in the arts. These artists have been painters, woodcarvers, sketch artists, quilters…the list goes on! No matter what medium they used or whether they were a hobbyist or a professional, it is evident that all these artists were just as passionate in the love of their craft as Rogers’ artists are today.

The Rogers Historical Museum invites you to join them for Family Day 10:00 a.m. - 2 p.m., Saturday, June 3rd. Family Day has something fun for everyone with numerous hands on activities and demonstrations including meeting farm animals, face painting, blacksmith demonstrations and Butterfly Park tours. You will also see beautiful crafts, including Patchwork ‘n Patterns: A Quilt and Coverlet Show on display Friday June 2 and Saturday June 3.
