Innovative Businesses Lean in to Bikes Blues & BBQ

Posted by: Karen Wagaman on Monday, September 23, 2024

Large-scale events like Bikes, Blues & BBQ (BB&BBQ) play a significant role in boosting the local economy, drawing visitors, and driving business for local establishments. We hope the 2024 Rally Week surpassed the impressive $15 million in direct spending generated during the 2023 event.

BB&BBQ Rally Week provided an opportunity for local businesses to enhance their visibility and engage with a broad audience. These events bring a significant influx of new and potential customers, allowing businesses to showcase their adaptability, creativity, and offerings. By seizing the chance to tailor their services to Rally Week attendees, local establishments expanded their reach and developed deeper connections with both residents and visitors, enhancing Downtown Rogers' (DTR) reputation as a dynamic and vibrant destination.

The increased foot traffic presents logistical challenges, especially for small businesses. The surge in demand may require extended hours, additional staffing, and increased inventory. However, given that a substantial number of attendees live and work within an hour ride of Rogers, businesses may continue to gain significantly from Rally Week exposure. Thoughtful planning and customer engagement during and after the event can transform first-time visitors into loyal patrons, potentially fostering lasting economic benefits for Rogers and its local business community.

Passion and Purpose Noah Furuseth, a Rogers resident with a deep passion for horticulture and ecological sustainability, is making a significant impact on his community. With a commitment to permaculture—a concept that emphasizes using land, resources, people, and the environment in a manner that produces no waste and encourages natural closed-loop systems—Noah has dedicated himself to restoring native trees and plants lost in the recent tornadoes.

Tiny Forest Initiative This Saturday visitors at the Rogers Local Food & Art Market, can find a tiny forest of native trees propagated by Noah. He has taken cuttings from trees destroyed in the tornado near Rogers Cemetery and nurtured them into young trees ready for planting. These efforts not only help preserve the native flora but also contribute to the health of the local ecosystem.

November is National Entrepreneurship Month, a time to celebrate the entrepreneurs who serve their communities and bolster the U.S. economy. This week we also recognize the American spirit of entrepreneurship by celebrating Global Entrepreneurship Week. Downtown Rogers is the perfect place to celebrate entrepreneurship. Our historic Downtown is largely made up of locally owned businesses, many of which were founded by the people who own and operate them today.

The Downtown Rogers Merchant Meet-Up--a program of the Rogers Lowell Chamber--provides an opportunity for Downtown Rogers business owners, their team members, and other interested individuals, to convene, connect, and converse about relevant topics over coffee.
