The Redbud Revival initiative to plant Redbud Trees

Beautifying Downtown: In 2009, DTR neighbors initiated a project to plant 22 redbud trees to honor the memory of Cooper Mack. The presence of the neighborhood redbuds signaled new beginnings, hope and love.

  • Cooper, the son of John and Harriet Mack, grew up in Downtown Rogers and was a graduate of Rogers High School.

  • He studied at The Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art in New York City.

  • Upon graduation, he worked as an architect, and was practicing in London, England, when he was diagnosed with leukemia and lost his battle at age 26.

This initiative has brought joy to residents and visitors of Downtown Rogers for 15 years. The devastation of the May 26, 2024 tornadoes inspired neighbors to revive the effort, this time to beautify even more residential streets throughout Downtown Rogers and beyond. The goal is to help replace the many trees were damaged or destroyed.

Picture this…spring arrives…people come from far and wide…all to see our neighborhoods ALIVE with redbuds in bloom!  Rogers can be a spring destination when we all choose to plant a redbud tree. The trees may be planted in front, back, or side yards. (Check with any neighborhood association requirements that apply.) Do you already have a redbud? Plant another! Let these trees be a symbol of beauty and hope after the storm.

What they’re saying: Harriet Mack is working with Bradford Yard Living + Landscape to order trees to be planted by homeowners and business owners. Their goal is to let these trees be a symbol of beauty and hop after the storm.
