April's Workforce Efforts - 2024 Spring Job Fair

Posted by: Marketing Manager on Friday, May 3, 2024

Workforce Development is a top priority for the Rogers Lowell Chamber in 2024. With over 9,000 open jobs across the NWA region, the Chamber works hard each day to help employers fill these positions and develop the workforce of tomorrow. April had four distinct workforce events devoted to showcasing career pathways to students and helping employers hire to fill jobs. This article breaks down each event and explains why they matter.

NWA Spring Job Fair:

What It Is: The largest and longest running job fair in Northwest Arkansas, this event saw over 300 job seekers interact with over 70 local employers looking to hire. Focusing on adults looking for employment or to switch jobs and careers, the Job Fair allows attendees to get a warm introduction with hiring employers rather than just filling out an application online. Employers also get a chance to put a face with a name and can conduct employment screening in real-time to fill open jobs.

Why It Matters: With low unemployment but still help wanted signs all around town, bringing job seekers and hiring employers together just makes sense. Attendees can interact with dozens of businesses at a time and learn about more career options than they can find on online job banks. Employers get hundreds of potential new hires walking through the doors to fill open positions. A job fair might seem old-fashioned in today’s tech-heavy job application process, but it still plays a vital role in matching job seekers with employers.
