Arkansas Arts Academy Dance Program Freedom Speaks

Arkansas Arts Academy Dance department presents “Freedom Speaks” under the direction of dance instructor, Mr. Todd Belin. This Black History program will celebrate the contributions of Black people to American History through food, dance, music, spoken word, fashion and more. The goal of this event is to create inclusion, to encourage diversity, and to enhance the motive of arts integration in our school. The event will take place on February 15th 5:30pm - 8:30pm. The program will include performances by students and community artist as well as guest appearances by: Korto Momolu, Celebrity Fashion Designer and Project Runway All Star, Arkansas Gospel Chorale, Cody Davis NAACP Guest Speaker, Drekkia Writes Activist, Poet, Author and our Host Dominique Blake, Olympic Medalist and Entrepreneur.

This is a collaborative production with many of Arkansas Arts Academy's core/arts teachers. The community is encourage to bring their family and friends to witness this event of entertainment and celebration!

Arkansas Arts Academy “FREEDOM SPEAKS” Black History Month Program Highlights

  • AAA Culinary team will provide a New Orleans inspired cuisine which will be included in ticket pricing
  • We will have Celebrity guest, International Fashion Designer KORTO MOMOLU, from Bravo TV Series Project Runway and Project Runway All Star
  • Special Guest Speaker Coby Davis of the NWA NAACP
  • Guest Poet Drekkia Writes of Little Rock, Ar
  • Special Performance from Anthony Ball and Community Choir
  • Special performances by students and faculty of Arkansas Arts Academy
  • MC Olympic Medalist/Entrepreneur, Dominique Blake
