Tempting your tastebuds: Northwest Arkansas foodies will be excited to welcome a new, culturally authentic, Southeast Asian restaurant opening TODAY in The District - Downtown Rogers, 106 W. Elm Street, Suite 102. House 1830, is opening in the newly renovated building on the Southwest Corner of S 1st Street and W Elm Street. This new eatery is bringing a throwback-to-tradition kind of dining experience to Northwest Arkansas. They offer dishes from Vietnam, Laos, and Thailand. Their featured items bring forward all of the amazing dishes that are found overseas and in SE Asian Homes in the U.S. but not often found on menus.

Meet the Family: Founders and operators of House 1830 are ThanhBinh (Binh) Hoang and his wife, Susannah Hoang, Binh’s younger brother, VinhQuang (Quang) Hoang and the executive chef is his wife Vatsana Hoang. Their family has been in the restaurant business for more than 30 years. They have owned and operated six restaurants in Oregon and plan to open several restaurants in NW Arkansas to bring forward culturally authentic dining from other parts of the world. They promise there is much more to come.
Event the name says "home." The business name, "1830" is taken from the house number of Binh's and Quang's childhood home. The brothers are of Vietnamese descent, however they were born in a refugee camp in Thailand. Their parents were raised in Laos but were forced to escape to Thailand under gunfire. Their mother was pregnant with Thanh at the time.

Where food is a family tradition: The younger brother's wife, Vatsana, was born and raised in Laos to a Vietnamese mother and Lao-Thai father. She has extensive knowledge of dishes from these regions of Southeast Asia. Vatsana worked under the guidance of her mother-in-law--who learned to create traditional dishes at a young age--taught by her father who was a trained chef. Their family owned restaurant in Oregon provided the perfect training ground to hone her culinary skills and leverage her ability to identify and combine tantalizing flavors and ingredients. According to her family, "she is a beast in the kitchen!"

According to Binh, the flavors in your future go beyond the Asian dishes being served at House 1830. His wife, Susannah, is of Slovak descent and was born and raised in Pittsburgh, PA. They have been married almost 24 years and lived in Pittsburgh until a 2015 opportunity to work for Tyson brought them to NW Arkansas. Like so many transplants to our region, they loved the area and successfully encouraged the other family members, including their parents, to relocate here from Oregon and bring their culinary expertise with them.

The concept of House 1830 is to make you feel welcomed into their home and eat their foods they way they themselves eat it. This includes the opportunity to see food being prepared. The restaurant has two kitchens. The food is passed from the commercial kitchen through a window to the front kitchen where patrons have an opportunity to see and ask questions (from a safe distance) of the staff as they prepare your meal. The experience and the aromas are reminiscent of attending a Hoang family reunion or other festive occasion. They are committed to using high quality ingredients as they provide an immersive dining experiences as they deliver the beloved home cooked flavors and dishes in an elevated manner.

For the first month of business, they will be serving guests on a reservations only basis to give their team time to dial in to a smooth operation. CLICK HERE to book a lunch or dinner reservation. Or follow House 1830 on Facebook or Instagram.
