Rotary's Run the Railyard 5K Returns to Downtown Rogers

The Rotary Club of Downtown Rogers invites the community to celebrate Independence Day with the second annual “Run the Railyard” 5K walk/run, kicking off at 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday, July 4 from Railyard Bike Park. 

Run the Railyard 5K provides a holiday walk/run on the paved trails surrounding beautiful Lake Atalanta Park. This event is dog/child/stroller friendly, so you are encouraged to bring the entire family. The 5k walk/run is designed to bring awareness to the Rotary missions, to raise funds for club projects including beautification efforts related to Downtown Rogers Parks, and to provide a family friendly Downtown Rogers experience.  

This 3.5-mile run/walk will begin and end at the Railyard Bike Park, 299 E Cherry Street, in Downtown Rogers. The route takes racers from Railyard Bike Park, down the paved trail to Lake Atalanta, it loops the lake and finishes with an uphill ascent back to the bike park.

The Prizes:

  • Race medals will be awarded to the first 100 finishers.
  • First prize trophies will be awarded to the fastest man and the fastest woman overall.
  • A trophy for the fastest person up the hill.

Early Bird Bonus:

Online registrations received by Noon Monday, June 26th, will receive a voucher for two Dugout Premium tickets to the July 5, Northwest Arkansas Naturals Game against the Arkansas Travelers at their stadium in Springdale.



The Route:

The Run the Railyard Run/Walk begins at the Railyard Bike Park at 7:30 a.m. The course follows the Frisco Springs Connector trail (concrete) down the hill to Lake Atalanta Park. Participants will follow the paved trail through the tunnel and around Lake Atalanta for a single counter-clockwise loop.

Difficulty:
From the tunnel, runners & walkers will encounter several moderate hills and valleys before crossing the top of the dam. Returning along the shoreline of the lake, the route leads back up the paved trail to the finish line at the Railyard Bike Park. The course is primarily on concrete-paved trails, with a short (approximately 100 yards) portion on gravel. This event is appropriate for strollers and leashed dogs.

Advance registration is $25 for all ages.

Registration will increase to $35 on race day from 6:00 a.m. - 7:00 a.m., with the race kicking off at 7:30 a.m.

The club participates in several areas of community service, including: co-hosting the Rogers Christmas parade, conducting monthly Lake Atalanta trail maintenance, presenting dictionaries to Rogers 3rd graders, contributing wheelchairs to The Wheelchair Foundation, recognizing weekly program presenters with the donation of a book to the Northwest Arkansas Children's Shelter, and more. The club’s major fundraiser each year is Frisco Inferno, an annual barbecue competition that serves as the official barbecue venue of Bikes Blues and BBQ, the 2nd largest motorcycle rally in the country. Weekly club meetings are held on Monday from 5:30 p.m. - 6:30 p.m. at The Shire GastroPub, 117 2 Walnut Street, Rogers, AR.
