Underbrush Books, with support from The Cozy Librarian and Ozark Beer Co., is hosting the inaugural NWA Book Fest, 10:00 a.m. - 5 p.m., Saturday, April 1, at Ozark Beer Co., 109 N Arkansas Street, Rogers, AR. The event includes two stages and opportunities to connect with more than 2 dozen local authors and publishers, 12 maker/small business pop-up shops, and eight locally owned independent bookstores.

"Over the last 3 years, we’ve seen a huge increase in local independent bookstores–from 2 to 6 within the Northwest Arkansas and River Valley region," cited Courtney Ulrich Smith, owner and founder of Underbrush Books. "Those bookstores do so much for our community, from outreach to education, as well as adding to the diversity of the publishing industry through their support of our local authors and publishers," she continued. "This event is about celebrating that, but also ensuring that they’re all still here to continue that work for years to come.”

NWA Book Fest believes in supporting authors and businesses in all stages of growth. This event will feature traditionally-published, self-published, and not-yet-published authors throughout the day, as well as new and established book-related businesses.

The event is free and the public is invited to support this sector of the local economy--by buying a book, bringing children to one of the story times, or spending a few minutes of the day listening to a local poet’s work.
