“So It's Black History Month...What Are You Going to Do Beyond Today?”
Take the challenge. Consider your relationship with the rich and diverse black community in Northwest Arkansas. Join this collaboration of black creators and thought leaders as we come together as a community and experience the good things in life. Enjoy food and art, accompanied by written and spoken word, collectively inspired by our regions’ black culture and community.

- Lovers of art, poetry, music, and food are invited to celebrate Black History Month during the February Art on the Bricks Art Walk.
- This Black History Month celebration and art walk begins at the Rogers Experimental House, (RXH) 121 W Walnut Street, Rogers, AR.
- Meet the artists and merchants Thursday, February 9, 4:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. in 15+ locations Downtown Rogers.

Lakisha Bradley, entrepreneur and Social Practice Artist, curated a program that includes visual art and poetry. The JBU counseling graduate student discovered her love for art at the age of five with the inspiration and teachings from her dad. After 16 years in corporate retail, Lakisha took a leap with a journey of rediscovery. She found art therapeutic and healing and in 2017 she founded MY-T-BY-DESIGN Therapeutic Art Studios. The award winning programs serve more than 15,000 members of our community including: families and youth within the juvenile justice system; assisted living residents, students and corporate partners.
Joining Lakisha are:
- Stacy Harper aka “L.I.F.E.”
- Her name is LIFE. Stacy is a motivational speaker, community leader, certified life coach, and founder of Speak Your Jewel Poets.
- Akau Anyieth
- Akau is a Sudanese American who teaches high school science. He is also a visual artist and poet.

The RXH Maker Station: Create a work of art to be sent to children impacted by the war in Ukriane. Bentonville based Hugs From Friends and Arkansas Arts Academy volunteers will staff a maker station at the Rogers Experimental House during Art on the Bricks Art Walk Thursday, February 9, 4:30 – 7:30 p.m. We will provide the supplies! OR Bring a work of art and drop it off for this worthy mission.

Kinya Christian, artist, art influencer, and community development professional has curated a collection of her own art as well as that by artists Leona Hunter Wade, Markeith Woods, Gregory Janicke. These works illustrate each artists’ view of black history though their individual artistic expression. visual art created by on the art, written and spoken word that was inspired by our regions’ black culture and community.
The art and poetry shared during the February Art walk are reflective of the African diaspora to the modern-day Black experience in America by local and regional artists. The art exhibit and poetry experience will feature a mix of historical research, personal reflections, wrapped in the challenging narrative related to our collective history as it relates to Arkansas, black culture, cuisine and more.
Additional artists and businesses participating in the February Art on the Bricks Art Walk on Thursday, February 9, will be listed on the event website, www.artonthebricks.com on Tuesday, February 7. The event is free and open to the public.

Downtown Rogers Art on the Bricks Art Walk showcases regional artists while enhancing the artistic and cultural opportunities in Rogers, Arkansas. The monthly Art on the Bricks Art Walk is designed to bring people to the cultural and historical center of the city and showcase Northwest Arkansas’s deep and vibrant pool of creative talent.
Art on the Bricks Art Walk is one element of Downtown Rogers’ vibrant arts and entertainment community. The 2nd Thursday of every month talented artists, craftsmen, and musicians, partner with downtown merchants to provide an opportunity to explore businesses and meet the artists in pop-up galleries. Locations and artists changes from month to month, and art experiences consistently provide new and interesting opportunities for the public to connect with and support the creative economy. Art on the Bricks seeks to bring experiences that are socially or culturally significant and align with the Rogers-Lowell Area Chamber of Commerce’s economic and quality of life initiatives.
