Make plans to continue--or begin--a family tradition with the Rogers Christmas Parade Friday, December 2 in Downtown Rogers. The festivities kick off with a holiday dance production by Ballet Westside Dance Studio at 6:00 p.m. at S. 1st Street and West Elm in the Turntable Plaza of Railyard Plaza. Then the parade procession begins at 7:00 p.m. Enjoy free cocoa provided by The Optimist Club of Rogers at West of 600 W Walnut Street.
With more than 70 entries, the Rogers Christmas Parade will line up from Rogers Heritage High School, then North along 5th Street with some entries assigned to line up at Tillery Elementary School. The Parade officially begins at 5th and Poplar, then heads East to 1st Street, North to Walnut and West to 7th Street. This year’s parade is being coordinated by the Rotary Clubs of Rogers and is sponsored by First National Bank of NWA. It all starts December 2nd at 7pm in downtown Rogers. Chad and Wendy Kumpe have been named Grand Marshals for the Rogers Christmas Parade. These Arkansas natives and have lived in the Rogers area since 1995 and have been active in service to the community for many years.

Combined, the Kumpe’s have been Rotarians for over 70 years. Chad joined the Rotary in 1965 and served as president of the Rogers Rotary. In his time there, he received the Service Above Self Award and the Avenues of Service Award. He is a charter member of the Downtown Rogers Rotary and served on the board for several years. Wendy joined Rotary in 2000. She served as president of Rogers Rotary and Assistant Governor for Rotary District 6110. She is also a member of Altrusa International since1985 and served as president of clubs in Little Rock and in Rogers. The Kumpes retired from careers in real estate and live on Beaver Lake. Chad enjoys boating while Wendy prefers reading on their balcony.

This year’s parade is being coordinated by the Rotary Clubs of Rogers in partnership with the City of Rogers. It is sponsored by First National Bank of NWA. The event takes place December 2nd at 7:00 p.m. in downtown Rogers. The Parade route begins at 5th Street and Poplar and then commences East through the heart of downtown, turning North on 1st St. and West on Walnut Street and ending at 7th and Walnut. Residents and visitors are welcome to enjoy the parade and vibrant holiday atmosphere of downtown Rogers at any point along the route. An attached map shows the complete route and staging area.

Interested parties are invited to submit float entry applications now. The deadline for online applications is November 18. After that deadline, a paper application may be picked up and submitted at Rogers City Hall, 301 W. Chestnut St., for possible inclusion.
