Yo + Aqui (I + Here) a Newcomer’s Journey is an Art on the Bricks Art Walk art exhibit designed to celebrate newcomers to Northwest Arkansas. The display will also share the path that brought 10 artists—and their talent—to our region. Several journeys link to Hispanic Heritage Month and how these creatives found a new home in our community. Artist and curator, David Gomez of Peace of Heart Studio, is highlighting artists who have made Northwest Arkansas their place to live, create and connect with their new community. The art will be on display at Rogers Experimental House, 121 W Walnut Street, Rogers, AR through September 25 with an opening reception and exhibition Thursday, September 8, 4:30 – 7:30 p.m.

The Rogers Experimental House (RXH) is one of more than 20 participating locations during the September Art on the Bricks Art Walk. A second event at the RXH, Newcomers Make an Impact art party, set for Saturday, September 17, 7:00 p.m. – midnight, includes a glow in the dark community art experience with a blacklight dance party and music by DJ810.

Free Interactive Activities during Art on the Bricks Art Walk
Percussion Drumming – Jump into the Splash Zone! An interactive community event that explores the intersection of music and art provides fun for the whole family. Participants are equipped with disposable coveralls, an artist canvas, paint covered buckets, and drumsticks. They will drum to music using drum sticks and buckets covered in paint. The wet paint is deflected and splashed on individual canvases to create images defined as percussion art. Gomez developed the technique to allow individuals to react to music and color while creating art.

Balloon Sculpture Photography Backdrop - The Pink Paloma is celebrating being a newcomer to NWA, and is in fact a transplant from Las Vegas! This talented artist is adding an additional splash of color to the Rogers Experimental House with a balloon sculpture in September. Artist and entrepreneur, Kisha Smith, believes that color, form and design have the power to elevate your mood as well as enhance the mood of any party, event or occasion. The Pink Paloma is adding a PoP of color and a splash of whimsy to the September Art on the Bricks Art Walk with a custom balloon sculpture that invites you to experience and interact with art in a new way.
