The Frame Shoppe in Downtown Rogers has been a locally owned framing resource since 1975. Already an experienced framer, Kerbie Lansford first contacted The Frame Shoppe about employment in late 2014, but the owner didn’t have a need, but mentioned wanting to sell in a few years. That fortuitous phone call resulted in the opportunity for Lansford to purchase the business at 215 N 3rd Street in January of 2016. As the owner of a locally owned frame shop, she has taken advantage of resources available to small business owners including developing her first business plan and applying for and securing an SBA Loan with the help of the University of Arkansas Small Business Technology Development Center. Today she continues to realize her dream of owning a frame shop and gallery.

Lansford has become known for her creative touch and ability to master different matting and framing techniques for her Northwest Arkansas clients. Her eye catching social media posts have also attracted national attention and new clients. With new clients brought exciting opportunities to frame cherished, limited-edition concert posters, including several of Grammy award winner Billy Strings performances. “Billy’s friend wanted me to frame the “Bride of Frankenstein” Glow-in-the Dark – Variant poster by Vance Kelly to coordinate with a new guitar made with a custom ‘Bride of Frankenstein’ inlay,” explained Lansford. “It is my understanding this guitar, made by Preston Thompson Guitars, was a replica for another guitar already referred to as Frankenstein,” she continued.

Lansford decided this project needed to be a step above. She busted out her colored pencils and gouache paints along with neon glow paint. The piece consists of four layers of matboard. The bottom mat peeks out at the corners with rounded curves that are hand painted to match the outline of the print. The next mat is an 8-ply charcoal mat with Lansford’s use of colored pencils creating a fade into the purple hue to match the background of the print. This layer was further embellished with paint to extend The Bride’s dress onto the mat. Then neon painted bolts were added to the top. Hidden  behind the top mat is a layer of ¼” foamboard with a neon painted bevel that glows under black light. Apparently the recipient, Billy Strings himself, was pleased and Lansford was ecstatic to receive a photograph from the popular musician posing with the guitar and framed poster.

Indeed, like many of us, life experience provided opportunities to learn, endure and adapt. In her 38 years, she has married, divorced, been a single mom, and she and her husband Nick Lansford are busy with their blended family. Her friends describe Lansford as caring, creative, and community-minded. She is honest, authentic, and has a heart not only for her own children, but also for the future that all our children will share. She is an inspiring mother who owns her mistakes and leads her children with candor. She is a loving wife to Nick, and she encourages and challenges her husband to be his best self. And she is a woman business owner, doing what she loves to serve her community…using her gifts and doing business with integrity.

She is supportive of Downtown Rogers and the growing arts community in Northwest Arkansas. Whether she is exhibiting art in her shop, or transforming her space to host an artist reception, she welcomes the opportunity to collaborate with other creatives. She supported one of her part-time employees, Roxy Erickson, with a commission for a mural on the South side of her shop. The vibrant cherry mural was inspired by the cherry tree behind the shop.  www.instagram.com/roxyshmoxyy

From an early age growing up in Neosho, Lansford has honed her artistic, technical and problem-solving skills. She accepted her first custom framing job just before her 18th birthday and has been framing professionally for more than a decades. Custom framing became her favorite form of artistic experessions, and her customers trust her to get uniquely creative to protect, preserve, and present the best moments of their lives.

From family photos and heirlooms to original art to limited edition concert posters to important documents. Her love of family, appreciation of art, and respect for history make her the exact-right person to celebrate and honor all the things that help us remember who we are and what matters to us. Kerbie has said that this creative work both helps her manage stress and feeds her soul.
