Golden's Designer Jewelry Owners Barry and Brenda Retiring, Closing this Christmas Eve

Posted by: Karen Wagaman on Monday, December 13, 2021

After 47 years of designing and making jewelry, Barry and Brenda Golden are retiring and closing Golden’s Designer Jewelry to the public this Christmas Eve.

Barry Golden started his jewelry career in 1974, making silver and turquoise jewelry, and opened his first retail store in Jonesboro, Arkansas. In 1984, he moved to Northwest Arkansas and opened a jewelry trade shop for one of the largest retailers, taking care of more than 1,000 stores. Barry also started to make custom-designed jewelry for the public.

In 1994, he married Brenda and they purchased and renovated the 206 W. Walnut St. building in historic downtown Rogers. Brenda obtained her certification in horology, and together they opened Golden’s in 1995 doing custom designs, special orders, jewelry, and watch repairs. Brenda used her administrative skills of 25 years with Walmart and began running the daily operations. She later became one of the founders of Rogers Downtown Partners and promoted the downtown for many years with other merchants.

In 2000, through testing with Jewelers of America out of New York City, Barry became the 68th Certified Master Bench Jeweler in the United States. As of today, there are only 124.

Barry also studied under three Master Gun Engravers for basic hand engraving, western flare cutting, and complete firearms engraving.

Barry and Brenda are perfect examples of a successful "Mom and Pop" business. They want to express their appreciation to their loyal customers of Rogers and NWA for 38 years supporting their work. They feel it has been an honor to serve you! They will offer a few unique finished jewelry items online that will ship directly to your home in their retirement.
