Spring has sprung in the Ozarks and we all hear the call of nature. One of the first things I heard about when I got to Arkansas was the “Pigtrail”, a winding highway made for cycles, convertibles and fair-weather trips. While you are preparing to go enjoy our state in all its glory, one more item. Before you check the oil, fill the tank and wash the windshield, make sure your insurance is current and everything you need it to be.

As of January 1, 2020, Arkansas rolled out the “Insurance Verification System”. Essentially, any uninsured vehicle will be subject to a cash fine and suspended registration. As of now, police can run your plate in real time and confirm the status of your insurance. I have personally talked to several people who discovered lapses by being pulled over. Nobody wants that!

If you have an agent you love, just give them a quick call to review your coverages. If you don’t have an agent or your company is better known for their mascot than their service, call me. I will give you a free insurance review to go over what coverages you have and what you need, with no obligation.

If you want to find out more about the new laws, go to to see the official press release.
