Spotlight: Queenie Connects — Building Stronger Connections for NWA Professionals

In today’s fast-paced world, feelings of isolation are on the rise, taking a significant toll on mental health—especially within the single population. The U.S. Surgeon General has called this a national epidemic and urges communities to foster stronger belonging to counter its harmful physical and emotional effects. Among single adults in particular, studies show that social isolation can increase the risk of depression by up to 80%, while meaningful connections dramatically improve overall well-being and productivity. Recognizing this need, Queenie Connects is offering a fresh solution for professionals in Northwest Arkansas.

Founded by local entrepreneur Rebecca Luther, MNSc, FNP-BC, APRN, who goes by the pseudonym “Queenie Be”, Queenie Connects creates intentional spaces where single professionals and business owners can build both social and professional support systems. While the group focuses on singles, it is not about dating. Instead, the mission is to create a sense of belonging and community—helping unpartnered individuals feel connected, supported, and engaged with the region.

Rebecca draws on her background as a master’s-prepared nurse practitioner to guide decision-making and shape the direction of the group. “Imagine you are a professional just moving to the area,” Queenie Be explains. “You’re single, with no family, friends, or support system. Or perhaps you’re a divorced single parent, navigating major life changes while feeling isolated. These are common situations in NWA—and exactly what Queenie Connects was created to combat. Let’s bring these individuals into the fold and show them the hospitality and kindness that Arkansans are known for.”

Why It Matters

Northwest Arkansas continues to attract newcomers, young professionals, and entrepreneurs every day. But retaining talent requires more than jobs—it requires belonging. Queenie Connects fills an important gap by offering events and programs where single professionals can:

  • Expand their professional networks
  • Explore small businesses and local destinations with a welcoming group
  • Gain encouragement and support
  • Enjoy unique events tailored to their stage of life

For many, these connections reduce feelings of isolation, improve mental health, and build lasting ties to the community. In fact, 70% of Queenie Connects members report decreased feelings of social isolation and greater satisfaction with their social connections.

A Community Ally for Businesses

Queenie Connects not only strengthens individuals—it also uplifts the broader business community. By partnering with local organizations and hosting events at small businesses, the group brings visibility, energy, and collaboration into the Northwest Arkansas economy. From professional networking to community-wide activities, Queenie Connects serves as a bridge that helps individuals and businesses thrive together.

Looking Ahead

As membership continues to grow, Queenie Connects remains committed to expanding opportunities for connection and well-being while deepening partnerships with local businesses and organizations. For Rebecca, the vision is clear:

“Humans aren’t meant to go through life alone. We thrive when we connect, when we share ideas, and when we lift each other up. That’s what Queenie Connects is all about.”
