Event Details

The Boys & Girls Club of Benton County (BGCBC) has announced the date for their annual Youth of the Year Celebration fundraiser. The event will be a virtual luncheon held from 11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. on Friday, September 25 via ZOOM.  BGCBC announced that Olympic Gold Medalist Michael Phelps will be the keynote speaker and will be hosted by Melody Richard and Silvia Azrai Kawas. The event will also feature a speech from this year’s Youth of the Year winner, Shakira Haro, in addition to featuring both live and silent auctions.

Since 1947, Youth of the Year has been the Boys and Girls Clubs of America’s premier recognition program, celebrating the extraordinary achievements of teen club members for their outstanding leadership, academic excellence, and dedication to making healthy life choices. The Youth of the Year program helps to shape tomorrow’s leaders by fostering character and leadership development in the young people they serve, starting them on the path to Great Futures. The Youth of the Year event for the Benton County Club is the most prominent celebration of the youth each year.

Finalists from each of BGCBC’s five sites complete a rigorous process of interviews, essays and presentations before a panel of judges. The judges then determine who will be awarded the Boys and Girls Clubs of Benton County 2020 Youth of the Year.  Only one can be chosen, but all are remarkable examples of the profound impact the volunteers, programs and club staff have on the lives of young people in Benton County.  The Youth of the Year Celebration event for Benton County Clubs is the largest Club community gathering of the year.

Tickets are $25 and are available here. For more information, contact BGCBC CEO Matt Taliaferro at (479) 273-7187 ext. 111.
