On October 8, the Education Workgroup will be hosting a one-day seminar, “Adventures in Team Leadership,” at the Jones Center in Springdale. The event will last from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. with lunch provided. The morning session will include a personality profile assessment, lessons on team building with purpose in the workplace, and an introduction to creating high performance teams that can move your business forward. The afternoon session will be on the ropes course for challenges at the Team Adventure Center to learn how to overcome team dysfunctions and create best practices for the workplace. In total, this program will provide a better understanding of yourself and how you work in a team environment, provide important information on how best to interact with others, help you identify the best methods for team building in your company to achieve performance results, and shape your career outlook in new ways. The Political and Government Affairs Workgroup encourages members to be informed voters. If you live in Rogers or Lowell, the Chamber invites you to get to know the candidates before heading to the polls. The government affairs division of the Rogers-Lowell Area Chamber of Commerce will be hosting three candidate forums, which are designed to provide Chamber members the opportunity to learn more about the candidates. A moderator will ask questions about the candidate's positions on issues affecting our community. The candidate forums are presented by Northwest Arkansas Regional Airport and Embassy Suites Northwest Arkansas. Mark your calendars for these dates:
Monday, Sept. 27 - City of Rogers mayoral race, Embassy Suites in Rogers, 6 p.m.
Thursday, Sept. 30 - City of Lowell Mayoral and alderman races, Lowell City Hall, 6 p.m.
Thursday, Oct. 14 - City of Rogers alderman races, Rogers City Hall, 6 p.m.
Siloam Springs will host a “Candidate Reception” for the candidates for Siloam City Board of Directors on Oct. 12. It will be from 6:30-8 p.m. at the community room of Arvest Bank at the intersection of Hwy 412 and Holly Streets. It will not be a “forum or debate”, but simply a “meet and greet” event and is open to the public.
The Fayetteville Chamber of Commerce is hosting a forum for city council candidates on Friday, Sept. 24 at noon in the Chamber offices located at 123 West Mountain Street. For more information call 479-521-1710.
There are a few contested city council races in Springdale, but there are not any debates currently scheduled.
For members living in Bentonville and Bella Vista there are no contested local races.
