I would like to take the time to say thank you for your confidence in me to serve as the Steering Committee Chair for NWAEL’s upcoming operating year. The examples set by past chairs Clint Hopper (Crafton Tull) and Paul Wilson (Intrust Bank) have established a high bar of expectations that I hope to be able to meet. I am certain working with Vice Chair Beth Stephens (Ozark Natural Science Center), Secretary Tara Dryer (UA Global Campus), and Treasurer Michael Lindsey (Rogers-Lowell Area Chamber of Commerce) as well as the other members of the steering committee, workgroup and committee chairs will be an exercise that only furthers all of our leadership abilities.
The coming year promises to be another ground-breaking year for our organization. In addition to the incredible, innovative ideas and programs each workgroup is tackling, our quarterly programs will continue to be top-notch and beneficial for all of northwest Arkansas’ emerging leaders. We kicked off the year with an outstanding program hosted by the Legacy Workgroup and our strategic partnership with ALPFA, the first of three Board Service Certification seminars planned for the year. I believe the outcome of these programs will shape the future of NWA for generations to come. Each workgroup and our newly-formed Marketing and Membership committees will have exciting news for our area in the months to come so stay tuned and get involved!

GREEN TEAM
The Green Team has been working diligently with the city’s parks and trails staff and the city attorney to implement a community bike program for the city of Rogers. There are two components of the program. One is that there are new adult and junior bikes that have been donated to the Rogers Activity Center for families to check out and use. The other involves the Green Team securing donated used bikes and refurbishing them to put out on the trails for anyone to use. These bicycles will have RFID tags so that we can track them electronically. The Rogers PD is donating all their recovered bikes after they have been held for the mandatory period. The Benton County Sherriff’s Department will provide labor for disassembling the bikes and painting them, with paint donated by Garner Building Supply. |

LEGACYThe Legacy Workgroup successfully produced their second Board Service Certification class in partnership with ALPFA on Jan. 13 at Sam’s Club. It was a huge success, resulting in the training of 25 new leaders. |
