NWA Business Women's Conference

Co-hosted by the Rogers-Lowell Area Chamber of Commerce and the Bentonville/Bella Vista Chamber of Commerce, the Northwest Arkansas Business Women’s Conference annually draws over 800 women for a one-day continuing education and networking event.

The 2006 conference is set for Tuesday, Sept. 26 at the John Q. Hammons Convention Center in Rogers.

With the theme, “Shoot for Success,” presenting sponsors Mercy Health System and Unilever will welcome the winningest NCAA basketball coach in history, Pat Summit of the University of Tennessee. Tickets for the full conference are $85 each, and must be reserved in advance. Tickets for the keynote address only are $35 each, and also must be reserved in advance. There will be no tickets sold at the door. Sponsorship tables are available. To reserve tickets or sponsorships, call 479-273-2841.

The mission of the Northwest Arkansas Business Women's Conference is to provide personal and professional enrichment through motivational and networking experiences for women.

In addition to outstanding educational seminars and two featured speakers, the “Louise Thaden Woman of the Year” award is presented annually at the conference luncheon. Louise McPhetridge Thaden is known as the second most famous female pilot, right behind Amelia Earhart, from the 1920s and ‘30s. She set world performance records and became the first woman to win several major flying events and awards. Thaden was born and educated in Bentonville. Through the years, she managed the roles of wife, mother, businessperson and community leader. Her achievements were many, and her legacy the notion of winning mind, body and spirit.

The award honors a Northwest Arkansas woman who displays the same high standards drive and dedication displayed by Thaden. Nominations for the award are sought from the community. To nominate an outstanding woman whose leadership, volunteerism and commitment to Northwest Arkansas should be recognized, call 479-273-2841 for a nomination form. The deadline for applications for the 2006 award is August. 31, 2006.
