LEADERSHIP OPPORTUNITES

One of the reasons for forming the NWA Emerging Leaders program was to link ready, willing and able emerging leaders in our community with opportunities for leadership through public and private boards and commissions and even political office.  Please note that the opportunities we share are for leadership positions, rather than opportunities to volunteer.  Many worthwhile organizations throughout the community such as the United Way www.unitedwaynwa.orgpublicize opportunities to volunteer with numerous worthwhile philanthropic organizations.  The goal of NWA Emerging Leaders is to apprise of you of opportunities for leadership development and service.  Two such opportunities are listed below – watch for additional chances to lead in future email updates.

NWA Emerging Leaders Steering Committee

The NWAEL Steering Committee seeks an additional member for 2010 service. In particular, an individual with an interest or experience in programming or events would be ideal. Candidates must be current, preferably active members of NWA Emerging Leaders and will have a track record of professional involvement. The Steering Committee meets on the second Wednesday of each month over lunch and requires 60% attendance, and steering committee members have additional involvement with workgroups and other commitments. For additional information contact chair@NWALead.com.

Support Students & Teachers: Join the Chamber’s Education Committee

An overwhelming number of NWA Emerging Leaders care about education. To actively promote and support programs between businesses and schools, consider joining the Chamber’s Education Committee! The group has an ambitious work plan that awards student achievement, honors business and community involvement in the schools and recognizes outstanding teachers. Volunteers are needed to help celebrate and further the success of the Rogers Public Schools. The time commitment is minimal, but the impact is huge. To learn more, contact Dana Mather at 479-619-3182 or dana@rogerslowell.com.
